# Manage credit reporting

The credit reporting tools let you modify how a loan is reported to credit bureaus. Use **Delete tradeline** to permanently remove the loan's reporting history from a bureau, or **Special fields** to override specific Metro 2 values in the next reporting window. Both tools are only available for loans that are actively reported to at least one credit reporting agency.

**Availability:** All clients
**Required permissions:** `credit.agency:read` AND `credit.reporting.status:list` AND `credit.reporting.status:update` (all three required)
**Loan status:** `active` or `chargedOff`
**Loan types:** All

## Before you begin

- These tools are hidden if the loan is not reported to any credit bureaus. If you do not see them in the Loan Options menu, the loan has no active credit reporting.
- Deleting a tradeline is permanent — the entire reporting history is removed as if the account was never reported, and the account cannot be reported to that agency again.
- Special field overrides are temporary. The system resets the values to empty after they are used in the next credit reporting run.

## Delete a tradeline

Deleting a tradeline removes the loan's entire reporting history from a specific credit bureau.

1. From the agent-view Borrower Portal, open the loan and select **Loan options** > **Credit reporting - delete tradeline**.
2. The form displays a list of credit bureaus the loan is reported to, along with the reporting start date for each. Select the **agency** to delete from.
3. Select a **Delete reason** from the dropdown.
4. Optionally enter additional context in **Delete reason details**.
5. Optionally select an **Account status code** from the dropdown. This overrides the Metro 2 account status code sent with the deletion.
6. If your company requires a Case ID, select a case from the **Case ID** dropdown. See [Global behaviors — Case ID requirement](/servicing-operations/agent-only-tools/agent-tools-overview#case-id-requirement).
7. Select **Delete reporting**.

The tradeline is removed from the selected agency. The deleted agency appears as disabled in the agency list, confirming the deletion.

## Update special fields

Special fields override specific Metro 2 values in the upcoming credit reporting window. These overrides are one-time — the system resets them to empty after the next reporting run.

1. From the agent-view Borrower Portal, open the loan and select **Loan options** > **Credit reporting - special fields**.
2. Set any combination of the three fields:
  - **Special comment base segment** — A Metro 2 special comment code.
  - **ECOA code base segment** — An Equal Credit Opportunity Act code indicating the account relationship type.
  - **Compliance condition code** — A code indicating a special compliance condition.
3. Select **Set special fields**.

The overrides apply to the next credit reporting run and then reset automatically.
